Tamil Liturgy Privacy Policy

Tamil Liturgy (Tamil name: திருநாள்கள், package name: com.shalomarputhasingh.thirunaatkal) is a free Tamil-language Christian liturgical calendar app. It shows church feast days, saints' days, and church announcements. The app is built and maintained by Shalom Arputhasingh, an independent developer based in India. This policy explains in plain language what data the app does and does not handle. The short version: the app has no user accounts, no sign-up, no ads, and it collects no personal information.

The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal detail. There is simply nowhere in the app to enter them. For the app to work, only three technical pieces of data are involved: • An anonymous identifier. The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication purely as a technical mechanism to read calendar content from the server. This creates a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any personal identity. • A push notification token. The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications about new announcements. This involves a device push token and a subscription to an announcement topic. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app's settings or in Android's system settings. • Cached content. Calendar entries and announcement images are downloaded from the server and stored locally on your device so everything works offline. The app does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, location, photos, files, health data, financial data, or browsing history. It contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics.

The technical data described above is used for exactly two things: • Delivering content: syncing new feast days, saints' days, and announcements to your device. • Sending notifications: letting you know when a new announcement is published. That is all. We do not sell, share, or monetize any data, we do not build profiles, and we do not use data for advertising or marketing of any kind.

The only third party involved is Google Firebase, operated by Google LLC, which we use as the app's hosting and infrastructure provider: • Cloud Firestore: stores the calendar and announcement content the app syncs. • Firebase Authentication: provides the anonymous identifier used to read that content. • Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivers push notifications. • Firebase Storage: hosts announcement images that the app downloads and caches. Google processes this technical data according to its own privacy policy, which you can read at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Everything the app stores on your device (the cached calendar content, images, and your settings) is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android settings. The anonymous authentication identifier and push token are managed by Firebase and expire or rotate according to Google's policies. If you want to stop all data flows from the app: turn off notifications (in the app's settings or Android system settings) and uninstall the app. Nothing else is needed, because nothing else is collected.

The app is suitable for all ages and is not specifically directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Because there are no accounts, no data entry, and no personal data collection at all, there is no mechanism by which a child could submit personal information through the app.

All communication between the app and Firebase happens over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Since the app collects no personal information, there is no personal data stored on our servers that could be exposed.

If the app's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Meaningful changes will also be mentioned in the app's update notes.
